The chain gauge, 2-in-1 master link pliers and chain tool set combines all the essential tools for professional maintenance and repair of your bike chain.
The elongation of the bicycle chain due to tensile forces and contact wear can be easily checked with the Rose chain wear gauge to ensure proper function and prevent excessive wear of the other drive parts. If the drive chain continues to be ridden beyond the wear point, you can usually expect costly damage to sprockets and chainrings.
You can counteract premature replacement of these drive components by changing the chain in time. To check the distance between 10 chain links of the tensioned chain, you can use the practical measuring tool by ROSE. The sinking depth of the measuring nose indicates whether the chain elongation is still within the tolerance range or whether it needs to be replaced. For this purpose, the elongation values are stamped on the gauge as a wear indicator.
When testing 10-, 11- and 12-speed chains, the degree of wear should be at max. 0.75 percent, also to ensure optimum shifting performance. A new chain is also recommended for combinations with aluminium and titanium sprockets at the latest at this tolerance value. Steel sprocket combinations with fewer gear steps usually tolerate a little more play, up to 1 percent chain elongation.
You should therefore regularly check your chain with the chain tester and replace it with a new one when necessary. The chain holder on the other side of the chain wear gauge is a welcome aid for fixing the chain when loosening and connecting the chain links. The two hooks act as a retaining bridge between the chain links to keep the assembly area free of tension.

1 tool – 2 functions! The oval tool tips of the extremely compact Rose 2-in-1 master link pliers reliably grip the rollers of the chain links, facilitating opening and closing connector links. There is no need to reverse the levers, as the pliers work in both directions. Another clever feature is the integrated handle spring that keeps the jaws in perfect position to help you apply the correct force and keep the tool in a compact format for easy, space-saving storage. No more greasy hands with the 2-in-1 master link pliers by Rose!

Note:
Whenever the chain is replaced, the shifting and drive components should also be checked for excessive wear and replaced if necessary. If only the chain is replaced, the distances between the teeth on the sprocket and chainring do not match those of the chain links. In this case, the chain links are under high stress and wear heavily. In addition, chain malfunctions and even chain jumping can occur due to unclean chain running.
